Battle of the Baseball Know-it-alls
Episode # 33
Based on: One of the many NES baseball games.

Okay, look, season 3 had seven episodes. Just seven, and they were only about 15 minutes long. So WHY did they feel the need to have two of those episodes feature sports themes and celebrity guest stars?

Okay, so the episode starts off with the N-Team facing off against Bo Jackson in a game of baseball. Apparently Bo is the Captain of the Videoland Allstars. Personally I would have taken Babe Ruth, but that's just me.

Anyway, after a bit of "Bo knows" trash talking, Kevin pitches a ball and Bo hits it. The ball goes flying and Simon decides it a good time to use his vampire mitt and goes chasing after the ball. Duke has also gone chasing after the ball. The two of them collide. Duke somehow ends up in that catchers chest-padding thing of Simon's and Simons glove ends up biting him on the butt. Simon tells Duke not to be such a "hot dog."

Hehe hehe. It's funny when it's funny.

Oh yeah, and it was a foul ball, strike one. From the sidelines, Lana is cheering on her side.

Then we see…OH MY GOD! Is that supposed to be Mother Brain?! It looks like somebody slapped a face on cauliflower and stuck it in a jar. Come on, I know some of the art in Season 3 is bad, but this is just outright awful. Who approved this? More importantly, where does that person live and where did I put my board with a nail in it?

Oh, sorry. Ranting. Back to the story.

Mother Brain yells at her henchmen to finish working on some kind of warp zone thing. Eggplant Wizard comments that the N-Team won't know what hit them. King Hippo comments that Eggy won't know what hit HIM if he touches a green wire to a red one. Then to illustrate his point, he touches the wires together shocking both of them.

This is why having a henchman whose old job was to take blows to the head is a bad idea.

Mother Brain then mentally lifts them into the air, insults them, and slams them together.

Back to the game, Kevin taunts Bo. Apparently, he already has two strikes on the guy. Bo hits this one and sends it flying. Kid Icarus tries to fly up and catch it, but he's sent spinning into the ground from the force. The ball ends up hitting the scoreboard and a giant diamond sized Warp opens up under them all.

Lana is shocked. A hologram of Mother Brain, Eggplant Wizard, and King Hippo appears to taunt her and let her know that they've warped the team (and Bo Jackson) inside of Baseball World, where they will never get out, or something.

Bo reveals that that they've been teleported to the place where they lock up all the "bad" equipment. Evil-faced baseballs then start shooting at them from the walls. Bo jokes that he hasn't seen this many foul balls since the World Series.

Good one Bo. That was so funny, I almost forgot to vomit.

Kevin says that he'll hold them off and tells everyone else to make a run for it. Bo says, "The only run I'm making is a home run." Bo, you don't know humor. Knock it off.

The N-Team runs and comes across a fork in the path. Bo and Kevin quickly catch up. Bo wants to go right, but Kevin says left. Bo says he knows baseball. Kevin says he knows videogames. Duke says arf.

The team splits up. Simon and Kid Icarus go with Bo. Duke and Megaman go with Kevin.

Back at the Palace of Power, Mother Brain has apparently already taken over. That was quick. Lana's new job is to keep the palace clean, using a toothbrush, which Eggplant Wizard demonstrates for her. She claims she doesn't understand and asks Eggplant Wizard to do some more cleaning to show her how. King Hippo gets frustrated and grabs the toothbrush to show her how it's really done. Lana and Gameboy use this as an opportunity to escape.

After the escape, we get this lovely exchange.

Hippo: Hey! This is my toothbrush, rutabaga breath.

*Hippo hits him*

Eggy: Well, you never use it.

Hippo: I was just getting around to it.

*starts brushing his teeth with the brush they had been using to clean the floor*

I love this scene.

Mother Brain then shows up and yells at them for not keeping an eye on "Princess Puny." She also zaps them.

Back in Baseball World, Bo and his team are crossing a bridge over a deep chasm. Laughing baseball gloves show up and spit acid on the bridge. Simon tries to turn and run (no surprise there), but is blocked by one of the gloves. Kid Icarus tries fighting back and the arrows he shoots are dissolved. Kid wonders how Kevin and the others are doing.

Cue the scene change.

Kevin and his team are walking along a path lined with bases. Megaman says a few more feet and they're home free. Just then, flying winged baseballs come down to attack them. Megaman tries shooting at one of them, but it just swallows his shot and spits it right back. Kevin's blaster seems to work better, but then the balls start shooting fire. I'm sure there's a "great balls of fire" joke here somewhere but I really don't feel like making one. The team runs back the way they came.

The two teams run into each other back at the fork. Kevin shoots a blast at the creatures and it caves in the tunnels, leaving them trapped. Bo and Kevin get into an argument when a hologram of Lana appears. She tells them that Mother Brain has sealed all the warps out of Baseball World and taken over the palace. Lana tells them she'll get them out somehow, but as she says that, an energy blast shuts off the monitor. Lana turns to see Mother Brain with her two henchmen.

Lana fakes surrender and presses the warp button.

Back in Baseball World, Bo and Kevin decide that teamwork is a good thing. Suddenly Duke starts barking and runs over to a wall. Megaman confirms with his sensors that there is a warp there. The team goes though and sees an underground baseball diamond. They're greeted by a giant talking baseball card with arms and legs that calls himself the Baseball Card King. He says that Mother Brain promised he could take care of them.

Kevin treats the guy like anybody would treat a giant baseball card. He writes him off as nothing and turns to walk away. The Baseball Card King says that they'll have to play ball to get out. Several bats with arms, caps, and mouths run out. The card says that they are the bats, and the N-Team are the balls. The bats then start to fly.

Simon pulls a gong out and one of the bats crashes into it.

Bo bats a bat with his bat and breaks it.

Megaman runs from a bat and Duke pounces on it.

A buzz saw comes out of Megaman's wrist and he takes care of another bat.

Two bats try to get Kid Icarus, but he flies around them in circles and they end up tying themselves together.

Two bats come at Kevin. He presses up on his Power Pad, and they hit each other. While he's in the air, he fires a few shots down at them.

This takes care of the bats, so the N-Team takes off. They reach a huge pit. Kevin says that the warp zone is IN the pit, but Simon says, "We can't jump into empty space based on what you know," Then the Baseball Card King comes back with a lot more bats. The team jumps.

Back at the palace, Eggplant Wizard and King Hippo lead a blindfolded Mother Brain to a huge cake with a crown on top. She uses mental energy to place the crown on her head and the two henchmen start to dance around singing "For she's an evil bad brain." Mother Brain gets all misty eyed and tells them that they shouldn't have. They panic and blame Lana.

Mother Brain is worried when she finds out Lana is responsible, but she doesn't have time to do anything. A warp opens above the cake and the N-Team (and Bo) fall though it onto the cake. The cake then creates like a wave of cake or something and sweeps Mother Brain and her buds into a warp to Baseball World.

She hates baseball.

The last we see of Mother Brain and her henchmen, she's being chased though the corridors of the inside of Baseball World by all the various enemies that had tried to get the N-Team.

The N-Team is watching this on a monitor and laughing. Kevin and Bo give each other a high-five and that's it.

Literally. That's the end. There are no more stories with Mother Brain, Eggplant Wizard, Gameboy, Simon Belmont, or the Palace of Power. There's one more episode left though.

Honestly, this episode is a mixed bag. I hate the Bo Jackson appearance and most of the baseball stuff that goes with it, but the scenes with Lana were great. I especially loved the toothbrush scene.
